So sad to hear of Peter Anderson’s sudden passing. I didn’t know him at all, but was lucky enough to interview him a few years ago when he curated Ephemeral Traces at UQ Art Museum, and he was such a passionate wealth of information about the history of Brisbane’s art scene - I could have chatted to him all day!

Thoughts are very much with his friends and loved ones. And thanks to UQAM for the photographic evidence of our meeting - I don’t even mind that it’s my worst angle 😉❤️

Thanks Paul. just looking at some of these photos, remembering gigs at Seven Hills art college (with the Lamingtons - we briefly shared a practice room with Zero/Xero at Redcombe House and played some gigs there) and various galleries/Licourice lounge etc during the 80's (Wondrous Fair). lots of memory joggers here, faces I have not seen in a long while. here's a few faces from '91, just after the golden 80's ... Ta Michael awesome and thanks for posting these! Images are slowly emerging from private analogue archives into the digital age......

and thanks Matt !!!

cheers Dave Holden. the eighties was a strange decade with a lot happening. blessed are the memory joggers!

I've been thinking about this installation since seeing Storytellers at the MOB. I wish Storytellers had created a space like this. So good!

Why people are paying big money for images that are already free

www.abc.net.au

Digital artworks called NFTs are selling for thousands, even millions of dollars. Is this a bubble or a new way for artists to finally get paid for digital art?

Hi all... re-accessing QCA history ie. photographs, slides, videos, films, flyers, posters, and general ephemera...
As we don't know how much material is out there... but as indicated by the recent crisis threatening the structure, ideology, objectives, history, and future of QCA... there is a very real need to unearth harvest and share QCA's cultural contribution.
The most efficient way to do this is to use the # which allows you to post your digitized material to your pages or groups on Facebook and tag it... thereby providing researchers, historians, students and activists access to history and current events...
ie
#qca1981 will give us an overview of everything that happened at QCA in 1981
#qca1981sculpture
#qca1981screenprinting
#qca1981events
#qca1981performance
#oneflatarchive
#jeanellehurstprojectsarchive
In order to aid in the accessing and cultural wealth-building that history affords us... we need to know where when what and who to contact for access.
If there is a growing mountain of material then we could go into detail with the tags if we have the details...
ie
#qca1981march

For a group like Griffith University, QCA | Students, Alumni & Community Support Group a post with an outline as to how to tag could be pinned to the top of the group page with a list of currently known tags for easy access...

cheers

Jeanelle Hurst Perhaps Bob Mercer took these?

wow they were a great band. The student union also organised a joint effort band night at the old Ahepa Hall at West End that headlined the Lamingtons. It's a wonder there are not more fotos of the QCA in those days? The sculpture block was always such a great precinct of the college of knowledge! Thanks for sharing!

Hi all would anyone have photos of an installation I constructed at Qld College of Art Seven Hills... It was a room full of screen-printed Frank cutouts on stands... as per mockup below and pic of some of the cutouts later wrapped in plastic as part of another installation in the Sculpture Department... The Frank cutouts were quite large almost to human scale and printed in the print department of the college. ©Jeanelle Hurst Archives #qca1981 #qca1981screenprinting #qca1981installation #qca1981sculpture ... A memorable event and fabulous blast from the past.

Frank from Yeppoon?

Jeanelle This is the foolscap instruction sheet I still have for my 'music' I performed on that day to the performance. The Lamingtons (Me, Christine, Stef and Chris McKimmie at least) were almost out of earshot of each other. We interpreted the words as sounds on our instrument (me on alto saxophone). Although it was 40 years ago, I remember every note I played. Not really! (winking emoji inserted here) 90% sure I don't have a recording.
