Instagram post 17956469545113186 THIS SATURDAY = 2 x EVENTS 〰️ At 4pm we have an exhibition opening of new work by Zoya Godoroja-Prieckaerts and an open studio of new work by current Travelling Artist in Residence, Lucinda Eva-May. Lucinda’s photographic based practice is interested in the possibilities of meaning within images. While in residence at WTS she has been working on image-based assemblages as a method to draw links and create connections, from the sensory experience of Alice Springs, to meanings within broader personal, aesthetic and intellectual contexts. Join us for these two events this Saturday 25th August.

Instagram post 17994325072239229 We successfully reached our fundraising target and even went above and beyond!! Thanks to the incredible community support we received and to #creativepartnershipsaustralia WTS will receive close to 51K in funding!! This means that we were able to raise more than 25K from supporters, artists, community members, local businesses, family and friends – WOW! Thankyou so much!

Watch This Space will use this funding to continue to nurture contemporary art development and production in Central Australia for many years to come.

Instagram post 17859706930286426 We have some really amazing, exciting news that we can finally share with you... In 2019 and 2020 we will not only be covering our gallery hire fees so exhibitions are free, but we’ll also be PAYING ARTISTS an exhibition fee of $1000 for 8 exhibitions a year!!!! We’ll ALSO be making our Travelling Artist Residency FREE!!! On top of this we will have a small travel fund to support visiting artists to come here and local artists to go elsewhere.
We are SO excited and proud to be doing this after years and years (25 years to be precise!) of supporting artists and art in Central Australia and beyond. Thank you to all who have contributed to this achievement and to the auscouncilarts for recognising the importance of financially acknowledging artists and their work.
We announced this news last night at our ARTalks event (part of our STILL ALIVE AFTER 25 program) where our Coordinator, Zoya Godoroja-Prieckaerts, said: “As an arts organisation, and particularly as an Artist Run Initiative (ARI) - a model that is quite often degraded for its grassroots methodologies - we feel it is so important to be contributors to this movement of valuing artists in order for it to become the standard. If we, that little ARI in the middle of the desert, can manage to pay our artists and show respect through reparations, then maybe the big dogs will follow... Here’s to Supporting Artists, National Conversations and 25 years of Watch This Space”. __
