WHAT

The Back Alley Galley [ B.A.G] is an ongoing community street art project located on Bundjalung country (Lismore, NSW).

It’s a project that invites artists to create murals in the lanes behind our CBD in order to bring colour and light into our streets and laneways, run by a very small team of volunteers who share a passion for street art, community engagement and inclusivity.

WHO

The Lismore Laneways Project is designed to help reinvigorate our inner-city laneways precinct and attract more visitors. The Back Alley Gallery team has been engaged to manage delivery of the artistic elements of the Lismore Laneways Project.

WHY

Through the combined efforts of a small group of people, the back laneways have become a sought out destination between the main streets of the Lismore CBD.

Conceived with the intention of beautifying disused space and. encouraging the community. to take ownership of their town, the Back Alley Gallery was a series of grass roots interventions created over a 7 year period.

BAG today has expanded its scope to be a placemaking precinct and creative hub.

It is this unique relationship between the Lismore community and the BAG collective that give the laneways of Lismore their own point of difference within the realm of public art
