The Politics of Snails | IN ARI | Maroochydore | 18 November – 10 December 2023

Slow dancing, slow performativity and slow contemporary art making set the tempo for such a memorable event at IN ARI with ‘The Politics of Snails’ .

The ephemeral work  ‘a slowness that feels’ was performed at the IN ARI opening by artist collaborators Tay Haggarty and Jake Aitchison. This work is a sheer delight. A mindful and timely paean to art, life and slowing down. It builds on the award winning work performed by the artist’s and their collaborators at LINK, a vital work staged at the Institute of Modern Art in April-May 2021. The mesmerising soundtrack for this new – and hopefully iterative – performance work was an uber-slowed down version of Missy Higgins 2004 song ‘Scar’- a pop song written by Australian singer Missy Higgins and Kevin Griffin of American band Better Than Ezra.

The exhibition continues until 10 December.
